Allocation Order
If you chose Allocation / Free Agent when starting the career, selected returning American players are handled through a league-wide allocation order during the offseason instead of the ordinary open market.
Your place in line
Section titled “Your place in line”The first order is seeded from the previous season’s finish, with the lowest-finishing club at the front. The order then carries from year to year: a club keeps its place until it uses its priority.
Claim or pass
Section titled “Claim or pass”Each returning player moves down the order. Clubs above you may claim him before your turn. When the player reaches your position, you can:
- Claim him, provided your club can meet the roster, cap, international, and budget rules. A claim sends your club to the back of the allocation order.
- Pass and keep your current place. Clubs below you can still claim that player; if none do, he remains unclaimed.
The order is strategic: using it on one player costs priority on the next opportunity. Your allocation rank can also be part of a trade, so a deal can change your place in line.
After allocation
Section titled “After allocation”Once every returning player is resolved, continue to the normal transfer window. Allocation is an additional route to talent, not a replacement for the college draft or free agency.
